The Why and Wherefore...

I really should have a clever literary allusion for a title but meh. I can't be bothered today.

Probably because I'm still recovering from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. What a book! I started out knowing it would hurt, but read it anyway because, truth be told, I love the journey. But oh, what a journey. What a journey indeed. The profundity of it all is beautiful. This is the kind of novel I would like to write one day.

Anyway, during the reading of this book, I sent a large number of text messages to the friend who most recently recommended the book. These text messages detailed my immediate reaction to what was going on in the book.

Some of these were quite entertaining and others just showed off how I totally saw everything coming because I've read enough of these sorts of books to know how it ends. There are only so many possibly plot twists.

Anyway, thus the idea for this was born. A blog chronicling my reactions to novels, a place where I can pull out my favourite quotes, a place where I can cry and rage with all the strength of a reader who is far too emotionally involved in the story. Getting too emotionally involved with books is my favourite form of trauma.

I ran out of ideas for my last blog, but I will never run out of books to read and therefore never run out of ideas for this one.

For each blog post, I shall record my reactions, thoughts and opinions on each book, and hopefully provide a small review/ some remotely intelligent comment at the end. It would also be really fantastic if I managed not to breach any copyright laws. Fair usage would apply, right? For the point of review? These will contain spoilers, read at your own peril.

Wish me luck guys,
Jess does books.
